Employment:

We are a small company, locally owned and operated. We are engaged in e-commerce retail sale of branded tableware products, both active and discontinued. The corporation is China & Crystal Exchange, Inc. with the registered Internet identity: mytableware.com. We seek to purchase and offer for sale any identifiable pattern of china (which broadly can include bone china, fine china, earthenware, stoneware, etc.) as well as patterns of crystal stemware, barware, and related accessories. We also have, at this time, more limited involvement in sterling, silver plate and stainless flatware. These three categories round out what is commonly called tableware products. Many of our china patterns are also sought and purchased by decorators and collectors, whose motivation and expectations vary from those who view china solely as an ingredient of dining. The scope and breadth of pattern china alone exceeds 50,000 cataloged patterns produced by well over 1,000 manufacturers, both past and present.

Our focus is on those patterns that we can effectively purchase and competitively offer for sale to an even-expanding worldwide Internet audience. We purchase currently produced patterns directly from selected manufacturers. We also acquire a wide array of discontinued, in many cases vintage, patterns from individuals who scout antique malls, flea markets, auctions, etc. in our behalf. They secure goods for us (often complete and perhaps never used sets) that may be undervalued in a localized selling environment. Such lot purchases can have profitable resale potential when broken down and offered as individual pieces to a vastly wider Internet audience.

With expanded sales activity sales and broadened product offerings, such expansion will require talented, motivated, and Internet savvy individuals who seek a unique employment opportunity in the rapidly evolving arena of e-commerce. The individuals we seek should have the following interests or characteristics.

1. Ability to cope with and ultimately master the details relating to a seemingly endless and ever-changing array of products.

2. Understanding of the small business environment where experimentation is the norm; having ability to sense the winning moves and run with them and also accept the occasional disappointment and learn from them.

3. Interest in learning the total business and willingness to perform a variety of Responsibilities (not necessarily all at once) including but not limited to: a. the detailing of product descriptions often requiring identification, inspection and grading of product, analysis of cost and competitive factors; b. purchasing and inventory management including dealings with independent suppliers; c. Customer/sales service requiring both verbal and email communication skills; d. A variety of other critical skills, the need for which will be apparent as we evolve and grow.

4. The capacities to listen well, learn from others and teach others, have and share great new ideas, and have fun in the process.

A casual yet spirited work environment located in a spacious rural setting (Lower Macungie Township) several miles west of Allentown, Pa.

Salary commensurate with experience and education. There are natural limitations in a small developing enterprise. However, there will be no pre-ordained caps to one's compensation, as might be found in larger and more structured organizations.

Traditional vacation and holiday pay for full-time employment status. Our health insurance program is excellent but does require some co-pay.
